Es geht am Samstag ab 11.00h in der 3fach Halle Schönenbüel wieder los. Wir müssen uns richtig für die Spiele gegen Bern und Basel vorbereiten, denn diese Punkte zählen auch für die Playoff-Runde.

Points from our games vs Bern and Basel will count towards the playoffs. It is important we prepare properly for these games, go there and win.
Training starts Saturday at 11.00 in the indoor hall next to the pitch at Unteraegeri.
Best Regards,
Stephen MacLennan

Zug Rugby Club Mini section has come a long way in 6 years. When the Mini section was formed in 2010 by now President Ian Morris at the Lido in Unteraegeri – 7 players turned up to the first training session. However if you have passionate coaches, willing volunteers and a love of the game anything is possible and now the club has over 325 members. The club runs teams from under 6 to under 18 and despite no formal home or club house,  it manages to provide training to 225 children every weekend throughout the season at the Herti stadium. Whilst having to arrange games at pitches in Baar  Unteraegeri and Hunenberg without whose support we could not compete as a club, given Rugby’s minority status in Switzerland.

However despite the challenges, those 7 players that attended that first session  are now the core of the Under 16 team and this year the team and Club have a reason to celebrate.

The Zug Under 16 Team have become Swiss National Champions in a season that has seen them remain undefeated in all competitions. This season has been special explained Ian Elliott Head Coach of the Under 16’s “We set ourselves a goal to win the Championship and put Zug’s name on the cup where Lausanne, Nyon,Genevea  had been for so many years, but we exceeded our goal in being undefeated in all competitions, this is the perfect season”

In addition 5 players were selected to represent Switzerland in the National Under 16 team the selection process can be seen on line at
However there is more to Rugby than just the match, Rugby is game founded on respect and team values, it not only helps players develop Rugby skills but the life skills of integration, inclusion, supporting each other, and  working as a team to succeed.”  explained Ian Morris President of the Mini Section.  The under 16 team which represents 12 nationalities including 8 Swiss players have been dedicated in training, committed on the pitch and respectful to the referees throughout the season living up to the values of the Club.
