Zug RC I 12-19 Fribourg

Zug started tentatively in our first appearance in the B League. Fribourg took the initiative and scored the first try of the game. Gradually Zug gained a foothold in the game however and responded with a try of our own, well worked out through multiple phases for a true team score on the wing. Fribourg continued to rack up points punishing Zug indiscipline with penalty kicks. However the home team started to dominate possession, scoring another good team try in the second-half. A glorious opportunity to take the lead was passed up with a knock-on at the tryline and, as time ran out, Zug were held-up over the tryline. Fribourg emerged winners on the day, but Zug gave notice that it belongs in League B. The next step is to make the most of our opportunities and win such games.

Lugano II 48-5 Zug RC II

An experienced and talented Lugano team ran out convincing winners in Muzzano. Zug 2 put on a disjointed display, with set-piece deficincies and missed tackles proliferating. At least in the second-half, the second team upped the ante with more aggressive rucking, direct running and an altogether more cohesive team performance. A period of consistent Zug pressure culminated in a good team score so the trip through (and over) the Gotthard was not completely pointless. The club needs a strong second team to support the 1st XV as we try to establish ourselves in the B League. We have the playing resources to achieve this, but we need this effort on a consistent basis to establish a true esprit du corps. Your club needs you!
